A couple of weeks ago was launched Manual for Media Observation, a book that I wrote with Sofia Paláu. I am very proud of this book because it is the wrap up of almost a decade of teaching and researching at ITESO University.
The general objective of this book is to organize a set of methodological approaches to study local media systems. This methodological knowledge was constructed and tested in different courses for undergraduate students in the Communication Sciences program. Mainly, these courses analyze mediate communication from historical, legal, political, sociological, economic, and cultural dimensions. Also, these methodological tools are in the core of the daily work of ITESO’s media observatory.
Throughout this book, the reader will find the steps for documenting the history of a newspaper, a radio station, or a media system. Also, the reader will obtain the instructions to make a media census and for analyzing the contents that regularly circulate through the media.
The book Manual for Media Observation is available in the ITESO’s bookstore and Amazon (Kindle version).
