He is the director of the Department of Sociocultural Studies at ITESO University and a professor at the School of Journalism and Public Communication. He has published in journals such as the International Journal of Communication, Tripodos, Comunicación y Sociedad, Media, War & Conflict, Virtualis, Latin American Research Review, and Mobilities, among others.

He was a Fulbright Scholar (2013-2016). His work has received awards from organizations such as the Center for Social Studies and Public Opinion (CESOP), the sections “Political Communication” and “Information Technology and Politics” of the American Political Science Association (APSA) and the Klein College of Media and Communication.

He teaches in the Department of Sociocultural Studies (ITESO University). His interests in the study of communication are concentrated in political communication, journalism, and the political economy of media. Currently, he is the general coordinator of ETIUS: Communication & Culture.
